  • Special Days

Special items for your diary would include:

Easter – learning journals go home for your input. The nursery is closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Visits from Police, Fire, Dentist and Road Safety officer – throughout the year we have visits from people working in our local community. They often bring items for the children to explore and talk to them about their role (these visits are often linked in to our central theme i.e. safety or people who help us).

Birthdays – celebrated as they occur with real cake & candles and a happy birthday song from the rest of the children. A note of caution here: parents often bring sweets into nursery for the other children when it is their child’s birthday. If you do this you must ensure there are no peanuts and/or peanut additives in the sweets you bring in.

Summer Outing – sometimes more than one, these may be anywhere within easy reach of Fernhurst Court.

Pre-School Parents Evening – A chance for parents to meet with their child’s key person to discuss any issues/concerns they might have before their child’s transition up to big school. Learning Journals are also discussed and arrangements are made to hand them over to parents.

End Of Year Parents Evening – An opportunity for all parents to meet with their child’s key person to discuss children’s progress. Management and directors are also available on this evening for any questions (or suggestions) about the nursery in general

The Nativity – where the children show their skills and understanding of the meaning of Christmas.

The Christmas Party – Yes we have a big party at Christmas and Santa has never been known to miss it. We normally have this off site but the exact venue may vary.

The Christmas Holidays – The nursery closes its doors on Christmas Eve and does not open on Christmas Day or Boxing Day. The nursery again closes its doors on New Year’s Eve and is not open on New Years Day. Learning Journals go home for parents and/or guardians to have their input, such as what your child did over the break.

Multicultural Events – we generally celebrate a wide variety of multicultural events during the year – for example: Chinese New Year, Eid, etc.
